The Great Reconnection • Project 12 Million Movement
For centuries, a story was told to keep us apart. The diaspora was told Africa forgot them, and Africa was told the diaspora did not care. But it was never the truth. It was a divide. Today, the silence continues not because our families are gone, but because they are missing from the system. With less than 3% of global DNA data representing Africa, the connection is incomplete. We are here to change that.
Identity
Slavery separated names, stories, and bloodlines. We are helping African-descended communities reconnect with the roots they were denied.
History
We are preserving oral histories and living archives so family stories do not disappear with the elders who carry them.
Health
Black communities remain underrepresented in genomic research. This movement also supports awareness around the DNA data gap and health equity
12 Million Stories Stolen: The transatlantic slave trade severed our lineages, but the blood remains.
The Data Desert: Over 97% of our people in Africa haven't had access to DNA testing, making us "invisible" in global medical and ancestral records.
The Bridge is Ready: We are building a living DNA and oral history archive to bring the family home.
Project 12 Million helps fund DNA access, oral history preservation, campus identity and reconnection outreach, and community-led programs that reconnect Africa and the diaspora. It also advances genetic health awareness and prevention, helping our communities understand what runs in their bloodline and build a future where both identity and health are no longer left to chance.
